Hi gang, it is me, Nora. Today the pastor asked me to speak to you about faith. The first question I would ask myself about faith is, where does faith come from anyway? Paul, the apostle, joins the conversation saying
faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. In (Matt.17:20) Jesus compares faith to that of a grain of mustard seed. Jesus also says in (Mark
4:31) a mustard seed which, when it is sown in the dirt, is smaller than all the seeds on the earth. But when planted, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs. Just as the mustard seed grows daily; likewise, faith is suppose to grow as
well. In (2-Cor.10:15) Paul said faith is suppose to increase in the believer.
Please note what the Bible teaches about faith. Paul, the apostle tells us that faith grows (2-Thess.1:3).
Therefore, do not attempt to solve today's problems with yesterday's faith, since faith is supposed to grow day by day. In (1-Peter 1:7) Jesus said your faith is more precious than gold.
second thing I would ask myself is: what can faith do for those who believe? In (Matt.17:20) Jesus said, faith can move mountains. In (Lk.17:6) Jesus said, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, Be pulled up by the roots and
be planted in the sea.’ and it will obey you.
Now ask yourself, will mountains and trees obey believers and move? Of course, not silly. So, what is Jesus saying by His statement? Open
your Bible, and let’s read what Jesus is saying? In (Mark 9:23) Jesus said, if you can believe, all things are possible to those who believe.
What else cane faith
do in the life of a believer? Genuine faith has the power to heal the believer, as well as the sick. (Read Matt.9:20-22),
Also Read (Mark 16:16-20).
Paul writes a chapter in the book of Hebrews about examples of faith and how they changed the circumstance in a believer's life.
Open your Bible to (Heb.11:1-40).
Are you going to read the scriptures, it is a proven fact that when someone reads a text for themselves, it is better retained by the reader.
Genuine faith will be tested. In (Lk.22:31-32) Jesus said to Simon Peter,
Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But Jesus said to Simon, but I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail. Jesus also said to Simon Peter, when you come to your senses and return to Me, strength your brethren.
Just as Peter was tested your faith will also be tested;
But remember this, just as Jesus prayed for Peter, He is praying for you as well. The Lord said fear not for I am with you. In the
book of Acts, there is a store about the power of faith. Open your Bible to (Acts 3:1-16). (V-2) Now a man lame from his mother’s womb was at the temple. (V-6) Then Peter said to the lame man, silver, and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give
you: in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise and walk. (V-7) And Peter took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received Strength. (V-16) Peter said Jesus, through faith in His name, has made this man strong,
this lame man whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes Jesus has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
