August Newsletter 2020

Father, We seek your presence that we may be made aware of power beyond ourselves. Forgive us when we forget that your ability is always available to us as we struggle in our daily walk with thee.
We seek your presence, Father, because we need a strong shield against temptation, we are tempted daily by the devices of the world. Keep us we pray from compromising your truths or engaging in activity’s that are displeasing to you.
We need your presence that we may find the ability and desire to be taught what is Godlike and right. We need your presence so that we might understand what is holy and sacred and eternal.
Father, we need your presence so that we might have a love for your word with all its power and insight and guidance. We need your presence so that we may be examples of Godlikeness as we walk in the community, and as we show loyalty to your kingdom, and serve you in all humility among our fellow human beings, and as we show care for your creation. We pray this prayer in the name of Jesus, Amen.

The best gift ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

One of the best gifts anyone could give someone is themselves. God gave the world such a gift when He gave Jesus to the world. God’s gift, which is Jesus, keeps on giving of Himself. Jesus comes with the gift of the Holy Spirit

Acts 2:36-39). Jesus compares the Holy Spirit to that of a helper and that of a teacher. Jesus said the Holy Spirit would teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you in My Word (Jn.14:26).

Another gift Jesus gives to His followers is the gift of righteousness (Phil.3:8-10). And then He gives His followers spiritual gifts (Eph.4:8). And then Jesus gives His followers the gift of eternal life (Rom.6:23). One of the greatest gifts is when God speaks to people through their mouth; Jesus said open your mouth, and I will fill it (2-Cor.5:20,21).

Jesus said all theses gifts are free, but you have to
Want the free gifts, and you have to want to receive God’s gifts. What must someone do to receive God’s free gifts, Peter said, repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:36-39). Why everyone needs a Savior.

Regardless if someone had committed a sin or not everyone needs to accept Jesus as their savior, why? Because of inherited sin.

Adam’s sin affected everyone in two ways,
(1) Adam’s sin passed to everyone even if they committed no sin (Rom.5:12-14). Also, the wages of sin is death so, (2) Because of Adam’s sin death passed to everyone (Rom.5:12).

When Adam sinned, the Bible says all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. And since the wages of sin is death, therefore, death passed to everyone, even to those who have not yet been born (1-Cor.15:22).

So then, who can be saved, asked the multitudes
(Lk.18:26). In (1-Jn.2:1-2) John said, if anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And in (John 14:6) Jesus said, know one comes to the Father except through Me. So, even though all have sinned and in their minds became an enemy of God, there is a way back to the Father.

The Philippians jailer asked, what must I do to be saved? The apostle Paul said, if you confess with Your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead You will be saved (Rom.10:9).
The Lord can heal you, perform miracles, part the red sea, Create the world, but God can not believe for you, Believing in Jesus is something you have to do for yourself, but, you can pray and ask the Lord to help you believe.

Prayer List

In (James 5:14-15) James, the brother of Jesus said, is anyone among you sick? Let them call for the elders “this is you,” of the church, and let them pray over them, anointing with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him or her up. And if they have committed sins, they will be forgiven.

So, Let us pray for our Brothers & Sisters in Christ.
Please pray for:

Kayla F, Pete G, Kirsten & Aniyah,
Justin, Carolee, Kayleigh, Ericka

Remember,
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you pray
And pray what the Lord puts in your heart.

The Church (((((((((((((((((((((

Is the church necessary for today’s Christians? Before you can answer this question, you must first understand the assignment given to the church by Jesus. In (Matthew 28:18-20), Jesus said, go into all the world and make disciples, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.

The number one assignment for the Church is to make Disciples. Calling yourself a believer or a Christian does not make you a Disciple, Jesus said the Church must teach new and old believers how to be a disciple.

In (Romans 1:7), the apostle Paul said Christians are called to be saints. And as saints it’s the Churches duty to teach and equip the saints for the work of ministry, remember, the apostle Paul said as Christians we have a ministry of reconciliation.

The apostle Paul also said we are ambassadors for Christ (2-Cor.17-21). As ambassadors, Christians
Represent Christ and His kingdom to this world.

So, believers come to Church so the Church
Can teach them how to be an ambassador for Christ in this world. Also, the Church is to teach Christians how to build-up their faith, and how to have a character like Christ (Eph.4:11-14).

The Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Rom.10:17). And where is the word spoken most? That’s right, in a church. So, even today the Church is very important to Christian’s if they want to learn, grow and thrive in their Christian walk.

Why am I sick & suffering.

Be healed in the name of Jesus

Like Job’s three friends, most people believe that a sinner is someone who has committed some horrific sin, and this is why they are sick or suffering or dying. But this doctrine is not always true. Such was the case with the blind man.

During Jesus’ ministry, He encounters a man that was born blind, and when Jesus’ Disciples saw the blind man they wondered why he was born blind. So, they ask Jesus a question saying, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus said to them, Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him (Jn.9:1-3).

Sometimes people get sick and suffer to bring glory to God. Such was the case with Lazarus, one of Jesus’ friends. Because Lazarus was so sick his sisters Mary, and Martha sent word to Jesus informing Him that Lazarus His friend was sick and dying. When Jesus heard that Lazarus was sick He said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.

When Jesus arrived at Mary and Martha's home, Lazarus had already been dead four days. So, Jesus with Lazarus’ sister went to the tomb and looking into the tomb Jesus said with a loud voice, Lazarus
Come forth. And Lazarus who had been dead came out of the tomb (Jn.11:57).

If you are sick or suffering like the blind man or Lazarus, or like Job, Remember, God wants you healed. (For more information regarding healing

World News

Today’s Newspapers are full of stories relating to neighborhood drug raids. This Constant flood of raids on the same neighborhoods should tell us something; they are not effective in stopping the flow of drugs.

Illegal drugs sold on the street affects entire neighborhoods, as well as individual families.
Right now, somewhere in the neighborhood, some mother’s son or daughter may be strung out on drugs. And how about the constant thefts committed on parents by their children who are stealing from them so they can buy more drugs.

And how about our children, and our grandchildren, whose life will be changed forever if introduced to drugs by a friend, or by a drug dealer looking for new customers.

Some of our readers will say, what can I do Pastor?
Well, if you are a Christian, you will pray. The Bible says in everything by prayer and supplication, let your requests be made know to God (Phil.4:6).

Pray for your children and your grandchildren. Pray they not be tempted or enticed by drugs (Matt.26:41). Pray for the people all over the world hooked on drugs, Pray God will break Satan’s hold over them, and that God will completely remove the desire for drugs. Pray for the drug dealers, pray God will open their eyes
And they will see the truth, how drugs ruin and tear families apart. Pray God will give them an understanding that they will be held accountable for every person who lost their lives because of the drugs they have sold.

Pray for America!

Father, please heal our nation of their hostility Amen.

Who should we pray for?

In (Matt.5:44) Jesus said, pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.
But I say to you today, pray for the United States of America, its leaders, and its citizens.
As Christians and a part of the body of Christ, let us pray that God will heal the hatred and divisions in our country.

Pray God heals the hearts and minds of the American people so we might once again be called “We the people of the United States of America.”

Why Pray?

Why is praying for our country so crucial? And, especially today. For one. Our country is in danger of being destroyed from within and two. The citizens of America seem divided on so many fronts. What makes American division so dangerous? in (Matt.12:25) Jesus said, every nation divided against itself will face desolation, and every city, Church, or household divided against itself will not stand.

A divided nation can not stand.

Satan is well aware of the devastation division can cause in a nation, a church, or a home, and epically if Satan is in the mix. Satan knows if he can divide God’s people, he can discourage and defeat them.

Our fight is not against one another.

As a citizen, our fight is not against a white man: or a black man; nor is our battle against foreigners or Republicans, nor is our battle with Democrats, no, it is not, for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, Against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age. Our battle is with the spiritual host of wickedness in the heavenly places (Eph.6:12). Please, do not let Satan win the battle of division.

America! Please don’t let Satan win this battle by convincing you to turn your anger and frustration on each other. Pray, God restores unity in our country and amongst its citizens.
