October 31: the eve of All Saints' Day, originally celebrated by Celtic peoples but now popular with children in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
The children dress up, often as witches or ghosts, and go from door to door asking for candy and saying "trick or treat."
The Shoe Box Program
The shoebox program for 2020 has begun at the Voice of the Gospel Mission Church. The Church goal this year is to fill twenty shoeboxes with goodies that the church will donate to Samaritan Purse, who will distribute them
to boys and girls around the world, (Read Mark 16:15).
The shoebox program is about more than a gift- it is about sharing the love of Christ, His compassion, His mercy, and tender care for all His children regardless
of their nationality, please read (Malachi 2:10). As a Christian, we are stewards and overseers
Over God’s earthly children.
Jesus’ brother James, writes,
pure and undefiled religion before God, and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble (James 1:27). For a child, there is no worse trouble than waking-up on Christmas day with no gifts under the tree.
Won’t you help God touch the hearts and souls of His children by donating to a worthy cause? Jesus said, since you provided a gift for one of the least of these my children, then you gave it in My name (Matt.25:40).
If you would like to participate in the shoebox program this year and need an empty shoebox to fill with goodies
Phone (845) 344-1982, and the pastor will drop one off at your home for free.
This year have fun, make your gift-giving a family affair, request two free shoebox’s and let each family member provide gifts for the Samaritan Purse Christmas around the world program. Once your shoeboxes are full, phone (845)
344-1982) And the pastor will pick them up from your home. It’s that easy to give a gift to a child.

The hunter & the Rabbit
My parents, the late Richard and Betty, lived at the end of Belmont Ave, and across from their house was a wooded area that also had a railroad bed that set ideal for years. It was this railroad bed that I walked every
Sunday looking for snakes, birds, rabbits, and squirrels. I managed to save enough money to buy a Winchester, model 150, lever-action carbine, and as a 16 year-old-boy. I was anxious to shoot the first animal that crossed my path.
The rabbit was trapped.
Then it happened! I spotted a wild rabbit, well, in reality, I believe we spotted each other at the same time, because it darted into a cluster of bushes and I followed close behind.
As I stepped into the brush, I believed the rabbit was surprised, as well as me, because I was blocking the rabbit’s only means of escape.
Do rabbits pray?
As I looked down the guns scoop, the rabbit did something I have never seen before while hunting prey. This rabbit crouched down, had its eyes closed, and I had to wonder, is this rabbit praying.
answer the prayers of animals?
Did the Lord answer the rabbit's cry for help? We will never know if God heard the rabbit's prayer or responded to its cries. Whatever the rabbit was doing, however, seemed to work,
because my mind was flooded with thoughts about this rabbit, having babies who are waiting for her to bring them food. Man's heart is wicked the Lord said to Himself, the imagination of man’s heart is evil (Gen.6:5). The prophet Jeremiah joins the
conversation and speaks the words the Lord had put in his mouth saying (Jer.1:10), the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked (Jer.17:9), and my heart was no exception, for I was thoroughly searching the
woods for one reason, to shoot and kill innocent animals.
Can a rabbit change a man’s heart?
Was this rabbit praying? We will never know, but what
I do know for sure is, while confronting the rabbit, something supernaturally happened to me? For the first time, I saw this hare just as the Lord saw it, one of His creatures providing for their young. And here I stand with a loaded gun, ready to end the
bunny’s life for two minutes of pleasure.
Dose God use animals to change hearts?
While I was hunting, did God use the rabbit to change my heart? Is there anyone
who can answer such a question as this? However, I do know that God opened the mouth of Balaam’s donkey so the animal could warn Balaam of pending danger (Please read Num.22:1-41). I also know the Lord commanded the ravens to feed His prophet Elijah,
(Please Read 1-Kings 17-1-6). Luke, writes saying, with God, nothing is impossible. Most Christians forget that there is nothing the Lord cannot do.
A new creation
Lord meant Saul, a persecutor, and murder on the road to Damascus and changed His mind, and then his heart (Acts.9:1-43). Why then, couldn’t the Lord meet a hunter who is in the act of shooting a rabbit in the woods? Something had happened to me that
warm sunny day while hunting. I entered the forest as a cold-blooded
animal killer and left the woods with tears in my eyes.
Who would guess that God would use a rabbit
a man’s heart, but He did, God, changed my heart that day?
Why am I sharing this story with you?
For one, to testify that God does change the hearts of men and woman, even when their hearts are wicked Secondly I testify that God loves all of His creation, including animals.
Did God perform a miracle?
1) I am convinced a miracle happened that day. I believe the Lord gave me a new heart and put a new spirit within me (Ezk.36:26, 27).
2) God changed a man's heart forever, all by
the grace and power of a loving God.
A new man
God performed a miracle that day when I encountered a praying rabbit, for one, I no longer hunt, and did I shoot the rabbit?
Of course not, did my parents know that I was raising havoc in the animal kingdom, certainly not. And by the way, this is a true story, and the hunter was me, Pastor Dennis, and no," I was not a pastor when I was hunting.
Everyone has a story, let the pastor help you tell yours.
In (Acts 1:8), Jesus said to His Disciples, as well as to today’s Christians; But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and
Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
The dictionary describes the word witness as such:
1. Somebody who sees occurrence: somebody who gives evidence after seeing
or hearing something.
2. bear witness (to something) to prove or be evidence that something is true or that something happened.
3. somebody who testifies to Christian beliefs:
somebody who publicly states his or her strong Christian beliefs.
4. public statement of Christian beliefs: a public statement of strong personal Christian beliefs.
the apostles, we did not witness the resurrection of Jesus, our Lord, and Savior. However, God gave us of His Spirit, the Holy Spirit, so we too, can witness for Christ. In the book of Proverbs, the author writes, In all your ways acknowledge the Lord.
One of my goals as a pastor is to help believers recognize God as He moves in their lives so look for these stories that might jog your memory, and you too will have a story to tell about God.

No middle ground.
My grandfather, the late Rev. Herbert Jarvis, Just finished preaching the Sunday sermon out of the book of Revelation. My grandfather preached about Christians being in a war with Satan. And yes, his word’s scared
me, and at that moment, I made up my mind to be neutral. I was not on God’s side or Satan’s side.
After Sunday service, I stopped at my grandmother's house, no, not for dinner, or to visit; I stop by
their house to borrow money. I knocked on the door, and my uncle Dickey let me in and said grandma is upstairs. I called out, granny, and she said, come up, come up.
While standing in the upstairs living room, we
The sermon which my Grandfather had preached and I said I am going to remain neutral; I am not on God’s side or Satan’s side. When my late grandmother heard these words, she said, come, son,
sit by me as she padded the couch pillows. As I sat down, my grandmother, the late Evan. Gladys pulled out this giant Bible and turned to (Revelation 3:15-16). And she began to read the two verses which were spoken by Jesus.

(V-16), So then, because you are lukewarm, and nether cold or hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

Jesus said, He who is not
with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad. Oh, it was me, Dennis, my grandmother, was speaking to, and no,’ I was not a pastor when my grandmother informed me that there is no neutral ground when it comes to salvation.
Although salvation is a free gift God has given to the whole world, however, God’s gift of salvation must be accepted by faith from each recipient who wants to experience eternal life in heaven with the Father.
(Please read (Jn.1:12), (Jn.3:16),
Open your Bible to (Mark 16:16)
I will read the verse for your hearing.
(V-16), He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. No one has to be condemned, no matter the sin.

Let’s read the verse together
(V-16) For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Now open your Bible to (Rom.10:8-10)
(V-8), But what does it say? The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart that is, the word of faith which we preach;
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead, you will be saved.
(10), For with the heart one believes unto rightousness, and with the mouth
confession is made unto salvation.
The Lord said today, I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.
