TRUST IN THE LORD

TRUST IN THE LORD

Scriptures Pslm.62:5-8      Rev Dennis L. Johnson

Scripture Matt.16:33         September 12, 2021

````````````````````````````````````````````
Introduction:
As Jesus was speaking to His Disciples He said to them, as well as
To us, in the world you will have tribulation; hardship: great
Difficulty, affliction, mental distress, and suffering.
As told in:
(Matt.16:33), as well as in
(Mark 13:8).
 1) As we observe the condition of the world, today, we can see that the world is      troubled by many things such as:
A) The coronavirus
B) climate change
C) A divided nation
D) street’s with crime
And the list goes on and on.
2) Today, the world is filled with so many uncertainty’s that nothing
seems to be assured or guaranteed anymore, such as our:
A) Health
B) Our finances’
C) Our business’
D) Our Jobs
E) And our Home’s
 And because of the uncertainness of life, most people are living In fear and anxiety because they do not know what tomorrow may bring their Way. If there was ever a time to trust in God, I would say today is that time.
 Open your Bible to (Psalm 68:5-8)
 (V-5) My soul silently waits for God alone, for my expectation is from Him.
(V-6) He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved.
(V-7) In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength,
And my refuge, is in God.
(V-8) trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart
before Him, God is a refuge for us.
 What a powerful statement we just read, trust in The Lord at all times, you people. As Christians we are to trust in the Lord in good times, in bad times, in times of great loss, and even In times when we do not understand why God is allowing bad things to happen in our lives.
 It is during these extreme times of difficulties and uncertainties that Christians should put their hope and trust totally in the Hand’s of the Lord because we stand on these three truths.
 1) Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from           the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning,
     as told in James 1:17).
 2) For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of           peace and not of evil, to give you a future and hope,
     As told in (Jeremiah 29:11).
3) We know that all things work together for good to those who Love God, to            those who are called according to His purpose,
    as told in (Rom.8:28).
Question, how can we show God that we love Him? Jesus said, if you love Me keep My commandments, as told in (Jn.14:15).
Turn to your neighbor and ask, what is God’s commandments?
Now tell your neighbor. And this is His commandments:
1) That we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ,
2) and love one another, as He gave us commandment, as told
in (1-Jn.3:23).
(V-25) Jesus said therefore, I say to you, do not worry about your
          life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your
          body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the
          Body more than clothing?
(V-26) Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor
          Gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are
          You not more value than they?
(V-27) Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his statue?
(V-28) So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how                they grow: they neither toil nor spin;
(V-29) And yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not
         arrayed like one of these.
(V-30) Now if God so clothed the grass of the field, which today is
          And tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you,            O,' you of little faith?
(V-31) Therefore do not worry, saying, what shall we eat? Or what
           shall we drink? Or what shall we wear?
(V-32) For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For Your
          Heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
(V33) But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and
         All these things shall be added to you.
(V-34) Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will
          Worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
1) Let’s take a closer look at five statements Jesus made during
His sermon.
(V-25) Jesus said therefore, I say to you, do not worry about your Life. Why                    would Jesus say such a thing, “Don’t worry about your life.”
Well! For one, Jesus does not want Christians to worry about something that He has already prepared for them.
A) The apostle Paul said it like this: for we know that if our earthly house, (Our        Body), this tent, is destroyed, we have a building, (a body), from God, a house      not made with hands, eternal in the heavens, as told in (2-Cor.5:1).
B) Paul also says for our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also
    eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
C) Who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to
    His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able
    Even to subdue all things to Himself, as told in (Phill.3:20-21).
Once again Paul speaks about the resurrection of the dead saying, the body is sown in corruption, it is raised in in corruption. It is raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body, as told in (1-Cor.15:42-44).
D) The apostle Paul said, if the Spirit of God, (The Holy Spirit), dwells within you,      God who raised Christ from the dead will also Give Life to your mortal bodies,
    As told in (Rom.8:11).
The second statement Jesus made was are you not more of value than the birds?
Let us look out some of the things that make us different or valuable in God’s eye.
A) Moses, in the book of Genesis, tells us that God created us in His
    Image, in the image of God we were created, as told in (Gen.1:27).
B) God has given us of His Spirit, (“The Holy Sprit,”) as told
    in (1-Tim.4:13).
C) God has given us authority over the earth, as told in (Gen.1:27-28).
D) God has given us eternal life, as told in (1-Jn.5:11).
3) The third statement Jesus made was that Solomon in all his glory was not              arrayed like one of these birds.
A) When God created His children, He created them in different skin tones and          colors.
B) He created them in different nationalities, and different sizes, He created            them male and female.
C) God created each of us with a unique personality. There is only one of you,          someone may look like you, but they do not have your personality. and nether      do you have someone else personality, God created only one of you.
The fourth statement we will look at this morning is faith. Jesus said, O you of little faith? Jesus described two types of faith in His speech.
A) No faith, as told in (Deut.32:20)
B) and Little faith, as told in (Matt.6:30)
Lets look at someone who has no faith. If we pay close attention we will learn why some people have no faith.
Open your Bible to
(Mark 4:36-41)
(V-36) Now when Jesus had left the multitude, Jesus’ Disciples took Him along in            a boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him.
(V-37) And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it             was already filling.
(V-38) But Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and                said to Him, Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?
(V-39) Then Jesus arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea peace be still!            And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
(V-40) But He said to them, Why are you so fearful? How is it that
          you have no faith.
(V-41) And the Disciples feared exceedingly, and said to one another, who can this            be that even the wind and the sea obey Him!
As Christians, when life’s situations cause us to fear, let us remind ourselves of these five Biblical truths.
1) For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a            sound mind, as told in (2-Tim.1:7).
2) Do not fear for I am with you says the Lord, as told in (Gen.26:24).
3) Cast all your cares upon the Lord, for He cares for you, as told in
(1-Peter 5:7).
4) Trust in the Lord, He is your help and your shield, as told in (Psm.115:11).
5) if you must fear something, fear God, and obey His commandments,
    as told in (Lk.12:5).
Now Lets look at someone who has little faith. If we pay close attention to the text we will also learn why some people have little faith.
Open your Bible to
(Matt.14:22-33)
(V-22) Immediate Jesus made His Disciples get into the boat and go efore to the              other side, while He sent the multitudes away.
(V-23) And when Jesus had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the                          mountain  by Himself to pray. Now when evening came,
          He was alone there.
(V-24) But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for                the wind was contrary.
(V-25) Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, Walking on the              sea.
(V-26) And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they
          Were troubled, saying it is a ghost! And they cried out for
          Fear.
(V-27) But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying. Be of good
          Cheer it is I; do not be afraid.
(V-28) And Peter answered Him and said, Lord, if it is you, command
         Me to come to You on the water.
(V-29) So Jesus said, come. And when Peter had come down out of
         The boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.
(V-30) But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid,
          And beginning to sink he cried out, saying. Lord save me!
 (V-31) And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught
          Him, O you of little faith. Why did you doubt?
(V-32) And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.
(V-33) Then those who were in the boat came and worshipped Him
          Saying, truly you are the Son of God.
We can see that when someone has little faith it will cause him or her to doubt God’s promises. Today, if you are struggling with doubt this morning remember these three Biblical truths.
1) Not one promise that God has made has ever failed, as told in
    (1-King.8:56).
2) God is faithful to keep His word, if He said it, He will manifest it
    In your lifetime, as told in (Deut.7:9-11)).
3) God is not a man, that He should lie, as told in (Num.23:19).
The last thing Jesus spoke about in our text was seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Question, turn to your neighbor and ask him or her, how do you seek the kingdom of God. and where do you start.
Open your Bible to
(Mark.12:28-34)
(V-28) Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them
          reasoning together, perceiving that Jesus had answered
          them well, asked Him, which is the first commandment
           of all?
(V-29) Jesus answered him, the first of all the commandments is:
          Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.
(V-30) And you shall love the Lord your God with all heart, with all
          Your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This
           Is the first commandment.
(V-31) And the second, like it, is this: you shall love your neighbor
          As yourself
(V-31) There is no other commandment greater than these.
(V-32) So the scribe said to Jesus, well said, teacher, for you have
          Spoken the truth, for there is one God, and there is no other
           but He.
(V-33) And to love Him with all the heart, with all the
          understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength,
          And to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is more than all the
          Whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
Now please pay attention to verse 34.
(V-34) Now when Jesus saw that He answered wisely, He said to Him
          You are not far from the kingdom of God. But after that no
          One dared question Him.
So again, how do we seek God’s kingdom? Jesus makes it crystal clear that before we can seek God’s kingdom we must first seek its king.
Open your Bible to
(Jeremiah 29:13)
God said to the prophet, Jeremiah, as well as to us:
(V-13) And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me
         with all your heart.
What is this passage saying to each of us?
1) God does not want our money,
2) He does not want our time,
3) He does not want our talent,
God want’s our hearts totally surrendered to His will and for His purpose.
 Inclosing:
God knows everything about us. The Bible says before we were born God knew us, as told in (Jeremiah 1:5). God chose us before the foundation of the world, having predestined us to adoption as sons and daughters by Jesus Christ, as told in (Eph.1:1-23).
God knows everything about us, and guess what, now God wants us to know everything about Him. And this begins when we search the scripture, pray, and meditate on God’s written word.
Won’t you surrender your heart to the Lord today.
God bless you.
