UNDERSTANDING IDOLATRY
Written By Rev. Dennis L. Johnson

The apostle Paul warns the Christians who follow him about the dangers associated with men who commit Idolatry. Paul said if someone commits Idolatry: do not even keep company with them as told in (1-Corinthians chapter 5, verse 11).

Paul reminds us that no covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of God, as told in (Ephesians, chapter 5, verse 5).
Therefore Paul said: put to death your members which are on the earth such as fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry Paul writes in, (Colossians, chapter 3, verse 5.

Paul describes idolatry to the saints, as well as to us, saying, covetousness is wanting someone else’s property; or having a strong desire to possess something that belongs to someone else, such as someone else’s husband, wife, position, or property. Read (Colossians chapter 3, verse 5).

Take heed and beware of covetousness, said Jesus, for one’s life, does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses as told in (Luke, chapter 12, verse 15). Paul said, let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have we are told in (Hebrews chapter 13, verse 5).

The second thing Paul warns Christians about is idolatry, it leads to:
Idol worship.

(1)The dictionary describes Idol worship this way it is worshiping idols or false gods.

(2) It leads to extreme admiration: excessive admiration or love shown for
somebody or something. In other words, what do you love more
than God? Who or what are you placing above God that you neglect Him.

Jesus said, He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me, and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me, Jesus said in (Matthew chapter 10, verse 37, thru 39).

Your church is the typical den of devils if you do not believe God hates all divorce from a covenant marriage and that only DEATH ends that bond.
